Why Religion Makes Me Gag (And How I Learned to Embrace My Atheism)

Religion Makes Me Gag

When I hear the word “religion,” I can’t help but cringe. It’s not that I have anything against people who believe in God or follow a particular faith. It’s just that, for me, religion has always been associated with hypocrisy, oppression, and violence.

I grew up in a religious household. My parents were devout Christians, and I was expected to attend church every Sunday and participate in all of the activities. I did my best to be a good Christian, but I always felt like I was on the outside looking in. I never really understood the concept of faith, and I found the rituals and ceremonies to be boring and repetitive.

As I got older, I started to learn more about the history of religion. I learned about the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the witch trials. I learned about the way that religion has been used to justify slavery, oppression, and violence.

It all made me sick. I couldn’t believe that people could use something so beautiful and spiritual as religion to justify such evil. I started to see religion as a force for harm in the world, and I wanted nothing to do with it.

Today, I still consider myself to be an atheist. I don’t believe in God, and I don’t believe in any of the organized religions. But I’m not anti-religious. I respect people’s right to believe whatever they want. I just wish that religion didn’t have such a negative impact on the world.

Why I Wrote This Guide

I’m an atheist, and I’ve always been fascinated by religion. I’ve read books about it, watched documentaries about it, and even talked to people who practice it. But one thing that I’ve never been able to understand is why so many people are so passionate about their beliefs. It seems to me that religion is nothing more than a crutch for people who can’t handle the reality of life.

I wrote this guide to help people who are struggling with religion. I want to show them that they’re not alone, and that there are plenty of other people who feel the same way they do. I also want to provide them with some resources that can help them on their journey away from religion.
