Playing Atari with Saddam Hussein: A Personal Memoir

I once had the chance to play Atari with Saddam Hussein.

It was a strange and surreal experience, to be sure. But it’s also an experience that I’ll never forget.

I was in Baghdad in 2003, shortly after the U.S. invasion. I was working as a journalist, and I had been granted an interview with Saddam Hussein.

When I arrived at the presidential palace, I was taken to a small room. Saddam Hussein was already there, sitting at a table. He was playing Atari.

I was surprised to see that he was playing a video game. But I was even more surprised when he invited me to join him.

We played a few rounds of Pac-Man. Saddam Hussein was surprisingly good. He beat me every time.

After we finished playing, we talked for a while. He told me about his life, his dreams, and his plans for Iraq.

It was a fascinating conversation, and it gave me a glimpse into the mind of a complex and contradictory figure.

I’ve never forgotten my experience of playing Atari with Saddam Hussein. It was a unique and unforgettable experience.

Why Playing Atari With Saddam Hussein is Necessary

I first played Atari with Saddam Hussein in the early 1990s. We were both being held prisoner at Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay, and Atari was one of the few forms of entertainment available to us.

At first, we played against each other, but we quickly realized that it was more fun to work together. We would team up to take on the computer, or we would trade turns playing each other.

Playing Atari with Saddam Hussein was a way for us to connect with each other, and it helped us to pass the time. It was also a reminder that even in the worst of circumstances, there is still room for fun.

I believe that playing Atari with Saddam Hussein was necessary for several reasons. First, it helped to break down the barriers between us. We were both prisoners, and we both understood what it was like to be treated unfairly. Playing Atari gave us a chance to talk to each other and to learn about each other’s lives.

Second, playing Atari helped us to escape from our situation. For a few hours each day, we could forget about being prisoners and just enjoy playing a game. It was a way for us to relax and to have some fun.

Third, playing Atari helped us to build a relationship. We started out as enemies, but over time, we became friends. We learned to trust each other, and we learned to rely on each other.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have played Atari with Saddam Hussein. It was a unique experience that I will never forget. It taught me a lot about myself, about others, and about the power of games.
