My Quarrel With Hersh Rasseyner: A Personal Account of a Scholarly Dispute

My Quarrel With Hersh Rasseyner

I first met Hersh Rasseyner in the winter of 1950. I was a young rabbinical student at Yeshiva University, and he was a renowned Talmudic scholar. I had heard stories about him for years, but I had never had the opportunity to meet him in person.

When I finally did meet him, I was immediately impressed by his intellect and his dedication to Torah. He was a brilliant scholar, and he had a deep love for the Jewish people.

We quickly became friends, and we would spend hours discussing Torah and Jewish philosophy. I learned a great deal from him, and I came to admire him greatly.

However, our friendship was not to last. As time went on, we began to disagree on more and more issues. Our disagreements became increasingly heated, and eventually, we had a falling out.

Our quarrel was a painful experience for me. I had lost a dear friend, and I had also lost a respected mentor.

However, our quarrel also taught me a valuable lesson. It taught me that even the most intelligent and dedicated people can disagree on important issues. It taught me that it is important to be able to disagree with others respectfully, and to be willing to listen to their point of view.

Our quarrel with Hersh Rasseyner was a turning point in my life. It changed the way I think about the world, and it made me a more tolerant and understanding person.
